I never had any worries about the care I’d already had or the next stages. I felt I always knew what was going to happen next and in subsequent stages of the treatment. Events always turned out as described - from dates and times of procedures to the end results. And it was an involved process including 5 major procedures 3 under full anaesthetic and a lot intermediate lesser ones eg. care of sutures, removal etc. - all this mainly over a period of 4 or 5 months during the first pandemic. Amazing - a feeling shared by family and friends who can see the results.

A few months ago after removing a mole I was diagnosed with stage 2a1b malignant melanoma (MM) and was referred to Dr. Pollock. I received great care from Dr Pollock and his team from the initial consultation to the day of the procedure (Wide Local excision and Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy) and of course great after care. No question was left unanswered and all questions were treated as equally important no matter how minor. The doctor explained what needs to happen and why at every stage and his team were always available to answer also any questions and put my mind and my partner's mind at rest. I felt the Doctor wanted me to be part of the decision making process wherever that was possible. I would like to personally thank Dr Pollock for his attention and give special thanks to all of his team and specifically to Lead Nurse Rolyn for their kindness and attention. The best thing about going through this situation would be the fact that Dr. Pollock is first a good person and then a good doctor. I can't thank him enough for what he did for me and I highly recommend him as a doctor. I would also like to say to everyone who is facing the same problem as I did, please remain calm, think positively, trust Dr Pollock and everything will be okay as it was for me.

I immediately felt at ease and confident in Jonathan Pollock’s care. Jonathan is a very approachable gentleman with a calm professional manner, taking time to listen to my questions however trivial. On the day of my operation Jonathan explained the procedure and reassured me throughout the operation. I was amazed that within a few weeks the scar on my face was barely visible to my friends and family. Being diagnosed with Melanoma was probably the most frightening experience of my life. I felt like I was in an out-of-control flat spin until I walked into the Spire at Nottingham and saw Jonathan Pollock. He was so calm and reassuring and I felt immediately less panicked. He gave me the time to explain all my fears and worries (my Melanoma had been previously diagnosed as a Basal Cell Carcinoma and I'd waited several months for an operation to remove it) and he explained clearly what my situation was, what my prognosis options were and what I could expect in terms of my next surgery. I left that appointment finally feeling like someone was fighting my corner and that he'd do all he could to help. Three weeks later Mr Pollock performed my wide local excision and sentinel lymph node biopsy. I was so well-looked after during my time in the Spire, everything ran so smoothly, I was treated brilliantly, monitored constantly and the room was lovely - like being in a nice hotel! All the staff were brilliant and again I felt so reassured and looked after on what was a really scary day. Since then I had great communication with Jonathan through his fabulous PA Lisa and the brilliant Spire oncology lead Rolyn who checked my recovery was going to plan and answered all my questions. The scars couldn't be neater and I know they'll heal beautifully in time. Finally I'm delighted to say Jonathan gave me the fantastic news that my cancer hadn't spread. It seems strange to write a review saying how absolutely amazing Jonathan has been and then saying you hope you never see him again - but I know he'll take that as a compliment ! Thank you so much for everything.

I found Mr Pollock very professional. He diagnosed the condition perfectly and carried out the procedure very skilfully and efficiently whilst ensuring that I was comfortable, relaxed and pain free.
